Social Work in Malaysia:

In conversation with Teoh Ai Hua and Raymund Jagan

I have the pleasure today to be in conversation with Teoh Ai Hua, President of the Malaysian Association of Social Workers and Raymund Jagan, also from the Malaysian Association of Social Workers and counsellor in the Social Welfare Department, Kuala Lumpar office. There are exciting changes afoot in Malaysian Social Work.

Ai Hua TEOH, President of the Malaysian Association of Social Workers since 2009. He was a lecturer in social work and was serving as placement coordinator for two years at Universiti Utara Malaysia (the Northern University of Malaysia) from 1999-2003. He then worked as the Press Secretary to the 5th Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2004-2009.

Currently he is member of the technical committee on enhancing professionalism in social work with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. His area of interest includes social work
professional development, community care, and research in social work.

Raymund Jagan, Malaysian Association of Social Workers, is counsellor in the Social Welfare Department, Kuala Lumpar Office.
