Social work in China:

In conversation with Terry Leung

The growth of social work is exploding in China supported by government. Social work itself is both old and new in China. Terry Leung discusses the growth of the social work profession in China through a Foucauldian governmentality lens and the benefits social work brings to China.

Terry Leung is Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Social Work. Before starting her academic career, Terry was a social worker and social service manager in Hong Kong for nearly 20 years. Her research area includes accountability and user involvement in managing welfare services and development of social work in China.
